Surf Zone Forecast for Oahu
Hazards
HIGH SURF WARNING FOR NORTH FACING SHORES
HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR WEST FACING SHORES
Forecast
Surf along north facing shores will be 20 to 25 feet through tonight, lowering to 12 to 18 feet Monday morning, then to 9 to 12 feet late Monday afternoon.
Surf along west facing shores will be 12 to 18 feet through tonight, lowering to 8 to 12 feet Monday morning, then to 6 to 9 feet late Monday afternoon.
Surf along east facing shores will be 3 to 5 feet through Monday.
Surf along south facing shores will be 2 to 4 feet today, lowering to 1 to 3 feet Monday. Higher surf will be possible today at select locations due to a large west northwest swell wrapping around the island.
Outlook
Outlook through Sunday April 02: surf along north and west facing shores will gradually ease through mid week as the current large west-northwest swell eases. Surf will likely reach warning levels along north and west facing shores Thursday night through Friday night as another large west- northwest swell fills in. This swell will slowly ease through the weekend. Small and choppy surf will continue along east facing shores through the week due to moderate to fresh onshore winds. A small south swell will remain possible Wednesday night through Friday night.
Surf heights are forecast heights of the face or front of waves. The surf forecast is based on the significant wave height, the average height of the one third largest waves, in the zone of maximum refraction. Some waves may be more than twice as high as the significant wave height. Expect to encounter rip currents in or near any surf zone.
